On the 10th December 1936, in Torino, S A L M (Studi-Attrezzature-Lavorazioni-Macchine) is established as a joint stock company. In the first years of activity, and until world war II, SALM supplies special machines, fixtures and equipment to FIAT, LANCIA, O.M. and WESTINGHOUSE.

In 1948 SALM started its activities in the field of fibercement industry designs and manufacturing by delivering two lathes for asbestos-cement pipes for a Bulgarian customer.
In the first 50's, SALM begins the effective co-operation with ETERNIT.

EUROSALM starts its activities the first of march 1969,inheriting from S A L M technical and managerial staff, location and facilities, experiences and know-how, quality and reputation.
Since then, the number of installations increased in the time to cover almost all the countries in the world.

In 1989 the company shares were completely transferred in Italian hands and the name of the company was changed into ESAM.
Since then ESAM continues to develop new capabilities and activities in the area of handling of materials, automating storage, automatic car parking systems, robotics integrations.

In 1999 ESAM started another strategic activity for the following years, giving the birth to new division for the design and manufacture of machines and installations for the production of wheels and related equipments.
The production range covers the machines and equipment for the different stages of the production of steel wheels for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, trucks or agricultural vehicles.
